Mac vs Revlon ♥ comparison review

Mac to me has always been one of my most lusted for brands, and about a month ago I finally got my first Mac lipstick. If you know me, You'll know i'm an absolute sucker for a red lip, so naturally I went for Russian Red, which is an absolutely gorgeous, amazingly pigmented matte red lipstick which once applied to your lips, is going to stick around for AGES. I definitely need more in my collection.

Now for Revlon. Back when the Kissable balm stains came out I went a little crazy to say the least. There were only two shades in the UK range that I didn't get, which where Darling (a very pale lilac) and Cherish (a very pale pink) BUT I loved the rest that much that I used to spend hours looking up the other colours online, and so I took to Ebay and ordered some of the American shades. I know. Naughty me. But I really wanted one of the pale nudes (Precious) their plummy pink (Smitten) and the brick red (Adore).

But Just recently Revlon has brought out two new collections. The colour burst Matte and Lacquer balms. So Immediately I had to try some. I knew by them not staying 'balm stain' they wouldn't be as long lasting as the originals but I went ahead and ordered one just try them out, and the one I ordered was standout and when it arrived i immediately tried it on, and the first thing that occurred to me was it was VERY similar to my beloved Russian Red lipstick.

They are both that deep, vampy yet still bright red, with a thick matte consistency, But the Mac lipstick feels more creamy where as the Revlon balm is more waxy. On first impressions of them, The Revlon balm has got that minty tingly feeling that the balm stains have which I actually like because it's quite cooling on the lips, and does last rather well, it does seem to cling to dry patches more then the Mac lipstick, but a quick scrub on the lips should take all of that off anyway. The Mac lipstick on the other hand has got that sweet vanilla scent, which I also really like, but I think I actually prefer the mint. In terms of lasting power the Revlon balm being wearing off around the center of the lip first, especially with eating and drinking, whereas Mac's will last hours, even with eating and drinking. A plus though is that both are really easy to top up, and you don't have to wipe off whats left before you reapply.

I do really like the Revlon one and I would highly recommend trying it, but the Mac one is the winner for me, I prefer the creamy texture and the lasting power just edges it for me. but for the price difference, definitely  try the Revlon one :)
